TruGrid Video Production Project : Round 2

Back to the Lone Star State
When we heard we’d be heading back to Texas for another TruGrid video production project, the excitement kicked in right away. After all, the first trip was unforgettable. This time, though, we were ready to go bigger.
Luke and I (Jacob) packed up the gear, hit the road, and set our sights on Corpus Christi and San Antonio. Between the sunshine, the smell of salt in the air, and some of the friendliest crews you’ll ever meet, this trip was equal parts work and fun.
What made this round special? The variety. We weren’t just filming one video; we were capturing multiple stories that highlight the heart, grit, and teamwork behind TruGrid’s mission.
A Variety of Stories to Tell
This shoot had everything.
We filmed a customer testimonial, a leadership and culture message, and even a piece about career paths for veterans stepping into this exciting industry. And if that wasn’t enough action, we also captured the moment when massive containers, weighing as much as a herd of elephants, were carefully placed on-site with cranes.
Getting those shots was wild. Picture us standing in the Texas heat, cameras rolling, drones buzzing overhead, and the entire TruGrid team operating like a well-oiled machine. The coordination it takes to set those containers down safely is unreal. Every move counts, every signal matters, and yet somehow everyone keeps calm under pressure.
That teamwork is what stood out the most. TruGrid’s crew doesn’t just work together; they flow. They move like a single unit, always communicating and always aware. It’s what makes their work so impressive and why the story we’re telling is so powerful.
On Set: Between the Heat and the Hustle
The vibe on set was this perfect mix of relaxed and fast-paced. One minute, we were scouting the best drone angles for the container drop. The next, we were jumping between interviews, capturing conversations about leadership, safety, and purpose. Of course, we were warned to keep an eye out for snakes in the grass, and while we didn’t have any surprise encounters, it definitely kept us on our toes. Filming in an environment like that makes every shot feel earned.
The best part was getting creative in the middle of all the chaos. Whether it was Luke lining up a perfect action shot or me finding a new perspective on the ground, we were constantly thinking about how to bring TruGrid’s story to life in a way that feels authentic and cinematic.
A Texas-Sized Detour
After wrapping up a few long filming days, we took a little time to explore.
If you’ve ever driven through San Antonio, you know the traffic is no joke. Let’s just say we almost missed an exit on our way to the Alamo. But it was worth it. Walking through such a historic place was a nice way to decompress after being on set.
Back in Corpus Christi, we had one of those simple, perfect moments. We grabbed dinner right by the water, soaking in the view of the USS Lexington, a massive aircraft carrier that’s now a museum. Watching the sun bounce off the waves while ships passed in the distance made the whole experience feel surreal.
Shrimp Tacos and Clam Chowder
Let’s talk about the food.
The best meal of the trip? No contest. Luke went for the shrimp tacos, and I had the clam chowder. Both were top-tier. There’s just something about eating seafood when you can actually see the ocean. Between the flavors, the salty breeze, and the fact that we were running on about three cups of coffee each, that meal hit the spot in every way.
We even joked that maybe Chezy should start a food review series for our travel blogs.
The Cockroach Incident
Every trip comes with a story that lives on forever. This one’s mine.
It was late. We were staying at an Airbnb, winding down after a long filming day. I hopped in the shower, halfway through shampooing, when I felt something brush my ankle. At first, I thought it was just water pressure. Then I looked down.
There it was. A cockroach.
I’m not proud of the noise I made, but let’s just say it wasn’t calm. I jumped out of the shower, grabbed a towel, and tried to catch my breath while the roach met its watery fate. Easily the least glamorous part of the trip, but it makes for a good story now.
Behind the Lens
Filming for TruGrid is always inspiring because of the people behind it. Their commitment to safety, efficiency, and collaboration shows up in every frame we capture.
One thing that really stuck with me this time was learning that they were actually ahead of schedule by about two weeks. That kind of progress doesn’t just happen. It’s the result of leadership that values every team member and a culture built on trust and accountability.
As videographers, that kind of teamwork makes our job easier and honestly, more fun. It allows us to focus on telling their story instead of worrying about the logistics.
From Fargo to Nashville to Texas
At Chezy, one of the best parts of what we do is traveling to see our clients’ work up close. Whether we’re filming in North Dakota, Tennessee, or deep in the heart of Texas, we get to see how companies like TruGrid are shaping industries and communities.
This trip reminded us just how powerful video production can be when it captures real people doing incredible things. From Fargo to Nashville and everywhere in between, that’s what we aim to do – tell stories that connect, inspire, and drive momentum.
The Takeaway
Every Chezy travel shoot has its highlights, challenges, and stories that stick with us. For this one, it was the combination of grit, teamwork, and yes, even the cockroach that made it unforgettable.
We left Texas with hard drives full of footage, memory cards packed with drone shots, and a deeper appreciation for what TruGrid does every day. Watching them coordinate something that complex, in that heat, with that much precision, was nothing short of impressive.
